Each year, the SOLIDWORKS User Group hosts many Keystone events that have a big impact on the surrounding SOLIDWORKS Community.
After 3DEXPERIENCE World, the first event to occur is AlexSWUG’s IFTAR event in Alexandria, Egypt.
AlexSWUG has a tradition of combining this cultural event with SOLIDWORKS Tips & Tricks and networking. In addition to the fantastic group of people, food, and presentations, this group also decided to honor their mothers with this event, as it took place on Egypt’s Mother’s Day. This group continues to succeed. The SOLIDWORKS Community is thriving in Egypt.
As we approach Mother’s Day here in the US, this is the perfect time to highlight this event and relive all the great moments.
To recap the event, please check out this blog written by Mohamed Hussein, leader of AlexSWUG.

IFTAR, meaning “breakfast” in Arabic, is the cherished evening meal during the holy month of Ramadan—a time when families and communities gather to break their fast, share food, and deepen bonds. It’s a celebration of unity and compassion, observed and respected across cultures and beliefs. At its core, Ramadan—and IFTAR—is about connection.
A Tradition That Keeps Growing
Since its start in 2022, the AlexSWUG IFTAR has become more than just an annual gathering—it’s a growing tradition. Attendance has soared over the years:
2022: 15 attendees
2023: 65 attendees
2024: 95 attendees
2025: 150 attendees
We were honored to welcome Professor Dr. Ihab Adam from Alexandria University. His engaging technical session and round-table discussions around SOLIDWORKS and simulation in research sparked meaningful conversations and future collaborations.

None of this would have been possible without the continued support of SWUGN, BSF Egypt, and 2B Digital. Together, we brought to life a key mission of the SOLIDWORKS Community:
To empower people who use SOLIDWORKS to connect, collaborate, and learn—anytime, anywhere, on any device.
