Detailed Description: This is a leadership role with responsibility for the conceptual and detail design of custom and standard automation equipment across multiple engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, and Control. Your teams will be designing systems for automated assembly including: robotics, machine vision, processes, material handling and material movement for use in the manufacturing of computer hardware, surface mount technology [SMT] auxiliary equipment and various other verticals including automotive and aerospace.
In this role you are a dynamic individual that is responsible for the teams that design the equipment and ensure its operational performance. You will manage three to five smaller engineering teams for a total of 15 to 25 people. You are responsible for project and departmental budgets. Responsibilities also includes multi-discipline engineering team leadership, project management and system design authority. Success requires a high level of communication and interpersonal skills to optimize the team’s performance along with technical expertise related to automated equipment.
This role is responsible for the engineering of global automation equipment and reports directly to the Global Automation Director. You will interact with various sites within *** global manufacturing plants, and will deal directly with engineering teams to understand requirements and translate that into automation solutions.
Job Requirements 1. Proficient in 3D modeling using SolidWorks 2. Demonstrated ability to hit aggressive timelines 3. Broad and current knowledge of commercially available components/systems including: robots, safety components, motion control 4. demonstrated ability to integrate mechatronic systems into both standard and novel designs 5. Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and standard engineering analysis tools such as E-Plan, Solidworks, FEA, and cycle analysis simulations 6. Ability to interact with sales and customers to support new and ongoing projects
Project Execution: 1. Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills 2. Assist in preparing customer and internal documentation 3. Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures 4. Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings 5. Complete other duties and projects as assigned 6. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and or travel as required in varying time zones 7. Ensure scheduled milestones are met
Education Candidate must have a B.S. degree in engineering [Mechanical or Electrical], M.S. preferred
Experience Minimum 10 years of experience with the design of automated equipment Minimum of 5 year of experience in an engineering manager role
Language Fluent in Chinese Fluent in English
Travel Expectation of travel to vendor/supplier locations is less than 15% of time, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs
