Dentium Co., Ltd. was founded in 2000 by dentists and dental industry experts. With extensive clinical experience and knowledge, the founders established the company as a leading global manufacturer that specializes in creating dental medical devices, equipment, and implants that now offers premium dental implant systems in over 80 countries. While Dentium earned its reputation by making high-quality dental implants and integrated systems, it also produces a variety of dental instruments, lab components, and regeneration materials.

Until early 2023, Dentium’s designers and engineers relied on AutoCAD® 2D and PTC Creo® 3D for product development. However, the company’s increasing product development needs and rising market competition prompted Dentium’s management team to seek a cloud-based solution to embrace cutting-edge technologies, enhance efficiency, and foster innovation.
“In order to gain a competitive advantage in this fierce market, I think it is necessary to launch new technologies and advanced product development based on excellent technology,” Manager Junback Lee explains. “However, it is difficult because copycat products and patent infringement often occur from other companies. We believed that working with a combination of desktop and cloud-based development solutions would help us streamline our development processes and eliminate delays when design team members are out of the office.”

After considering various options, Dentium adopted a combination of SOLIDWORKS® design and simulation software along with several tools from the 3DEXPERIENCE® Works portfolio. Since adopting SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE Works, Dentium has seenimproved communication and collaboration among its designers and engineers, leading to increased efficiency, shorter design cycles, and faster market entry. “SOLIDWORKS is intuitive for design, so it’s easy to jump-start ideas and has allowed us to organize and streamline our design process,” says Lee. Combined with 3DEXPERIENCE Works, the two solutions facilitate team communication and resource efficiency, reducing design cycles by 15 to 20 percent and time to market by about 10 percent.

Dentium has successfully reduced its development costs by 15 percent using SOLIDWORKS Simulation solutions due to fewer prototyping cycles and manufacturing issues while also enhancing product quality, resulting in a 20 percent decrease in design errors. Dentium’s growing global market share in dental products now exceeds 40 percent.
